  4. Here is a list of TeX-related programs for the Mac that might be of interest
  5. to OzTeX users.  All the programs are freeware or shareware and are widely
  6. available at various ftp sites that specialize in Mac or TeX-related software.
  7. Good sites to try are ftp.uchicago.edu or any of the CTAN sites:

  12. CTAN stands for Comprehensive TeX Archive Network; all the CTAN sites mirror
  13. one another to maintain an up-to-date collection of files in a consistent
  14. directory structure.  After logging in to a CTAN site you can locate a file
  15. called "xxx" by typing "quote site index xxx".  Good mirror sites are:

  20. deTeXtor
  21. --------
  22. A handy utility by Nick Buchdahl for deleting .dvi, .log etc files.

  24. fontinst
  25. --------
  26. A TeX macro package by Alan Jeffrey for reading Adobe Font Metric (AFM) files
  27. and converting them into PL or VPL files (which can then be turned into TFM
  28. files by PLtoTF or VPtoVF in OzMF).  You'll need to create a Big-Plain format
  29. to use fontinst; the OzTeX User Guide describes how to do this.

  31. Ghostscript
  32. -----------
  33. A PostScript interpreter originally created by L. Peter Deutsch.
  34. Very handy for previewing PostScript files and debugging PostScript code.
  35. Macintosh implementations include ViewPS by Tom Kiffe, and Aladdin's
  36. Mac GS Viewer 1.0 which is available at ftp.cs.wisc.edu in
  37. /pub/ghost/aladdin/mac.

  39. Other TeX systems

  41. If OzTeX doesn't meet your needs then feel free to try the other TeX systems
  42. available for the Macintosh: Textures by Blue Sky Research (commercial),
  43. CMacTeX by Tom Kiffe and DirectTeX Pro by Wilfried Ricken (both shareware).
